This has been one of the most pleasant weekends I’ve had in a long time. Nothing special going on, really, and I’ve had weekends where I’ve done more fun stuff, but this one just seemed to stand out! One reason was the weather! Is it really the middle of November? Two absolutely gorgeous 70 degree days to set the stage for total enjoyment of anything you may want to do. Can’t argue with that!
Riding around town has been a joy, too — the weather helped, but the best part was the beautiful autumn colors out in full force. I’ve written many times about how I love the fall season and miss the strong characteristics that you find in the north-east. But, I’m also happy that this area is not so far south that it loses the change of seasons. We do get a fairly impressive autumn here and I really do enjoy it.
So – yesterday I took in a movie (scroll to the next post for a review) and did my grocery shopping. But I also spent a lot of time just bumming around the house and playing with the girls.
Today, I went in to work for a couple of hours, then met a friend for brunch at Cafe 121, and then just drove around checking out the fall colors and breathing in the beautiful fresh air. I went to check out the new Big Lots — nice!!! I have a feeling their grand opening numbers will be pretty impressive — that place was PACKED!!! And people were filling their carts! It was definitely “the place to be” in Sanford today! I ran into several people I know all there at the same time – I didn’t see a soul I knew in WalMart or Lowes Home Improvement when I popped in those two stores!
But, the most fun I had today was dancing around like a wild woman with the girls in the living room! I cranked up the classic rock and danced and sang and they jumped around with me and howled and barked!!!! It was a blast!!!
I love having plans and doing fun or interesting things on the weekends, but I also really cherish the care-free, fly by the seat of my pants type of weekends that end up being a hodge podge of nothing that turns into one big weekend full of everything!
Saturday was an amazing day – weather-wise. It was pleasantly warm with a gorgeous, clear sky. It set the mood for a lovely day – one that I enjoyed thoroughly! I did some things around the house and played with the girls in the morning, went to see a matinée, and got my groceries. I managed to be semi-productive and do it in a totally easy-going sort of way. I drank in the day and it was perfect!
One thing that made the day so enjoyable was deciding to see Morning Glory during my matinée outing. It was one of three choices that I debated about while puttering around the house in the morning. The choices were all very different in nature – Morning Glory, Red, and Unstoppable – so, I had to be sure I picked the right one to support my mood and how I wanted to feel for the rest of the day. I wanted it to be a relaxed, stress-free day, so the tense Unstoppable was crossed off the mental list. I wanted to laugh and feel good all day – both of the remaining two would have made me laugh, but I decided a romantic comedy would fit the total bill better than an action comedy…….so, Morning Glory it was! I still want to see the other two, but another day.
The cast – can’t go wrong with Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, and Rachel McAdams at the helm! I adore Harrison Ford – a wonderful, well-rounded actor who can do adventure, comedy, and drama with equal ease. Diane Keaton is definitely more than a “little” quirky, but I love what she does with the characters she portrays. Rachel McAdams is an actress who brings funny and delightful to life. And then there is Jeff Goldblum – another quirky actor who always makes even the smallest role stand out – and the yummy Patick Wilson – enough said – in supporting roles that add much more than “support” to the success of the film!
The plot – Becky Fuller (McAdams), a perky, energetic, workaholic TV producer, is fired from a small local morning show in the beginning of the movie. She sends out resumes, revised resumes, and updated revised resumes to all the networks and local stations around the NYC/NJ area and hounds them with follow-up calls until Jerry Barnes (Goldblum) of national network IBS calls her to fill the Executive Producer position for Day Break – their morning show that is fourth in the ratings and on the brink of cancellation. Becky is charged with revitalizing the ratings or the network execs will pull the plug on the show. She soon finds out that it isn’t going to be an easy task. On her first day, she fires the male co-host – a diva with a foot-fetish that refuses to attend the morning staff meetings or do anything that makes him get up out of the desk chair on the show. Colleen Peck (Keaton) is the female co-host – a former beauty pageant queen with an attitude. There is NO budget for the show and everything and everyone is unraveling. In her search for a new co-host, she discovers that Mike Pomeroy (Ford) is under contract with the network, but not utilized – the multi-award winning news anchor has been banished from nightly news and is essentially just being paid out his contract because he, as another producer (Wilson) at the network describes him, is “the third worst person in the world”! She excitedly offers the co-host job to him while reminding him that his contract stipulates that if an offer is extended that he refuses, the network can drop his contract and not continue paying the multi-million dollar balance. Of course, he reluctantly accepts the offer, but makes it abundantly clear to everyone that he feels it is FAR beneath him by only doing what is absolutely necessary and being totally uncooperative, grumpy, and disagreeable. As a side note, Becky starts a relationship with dreamy producer Adam Bennett (Wilson), but is far too busy saving her job, the show, her reputation, and her self-esteem to focus on the relationship, so it too, starts to fall apart.
The movie is funny, light, and delightful. The characters are fun and mesh well together. The story is interesting and enjoyable. Put it all together and you have a winner! The only part that didn’t quite set right with me was Harrison Ford’s deep, raspy, Clint Eastwood-ish voice – I enjoyed his gruff, grisly character, but I thought the voice was a little much. I’m not sure if his voice is actually getting that raspy (possible) or if he was putting it on, but I was a little put off by it. Not so much that it took away from the character or the movie – just enough that it was unpleasantly noticeable.
Overall, I loved it! I give it an A- and highly recommend it for anyone looking for an enjoyable couple of hours.
One possession I absolutely, truly enjoy more than anything is my car – my pony! There is nothing in the world more relaxing, satisfying, and enjoyable than just cruising around with the top down and classic rock blaring on the radio. I would be the happiest person in the world if every day was a top down day and I had at least a couple of hours each day to be out enjoying it in the pony!!! I have always wanted a Mustang – loved them forever – I wouldn’t be surprised if the very first model that rolled out of Detroit turned my head even back then (although I don’t actually remember, since I was only 7 in April of 1964)!
Even though they ranked top on my list of all time favorite cars, I never owned one – I had a couple Camaros, but never a Mustang! Until April 2005 when I found the car of my dreams! I had promised myself a little red convertible as a 50th birthday (mid-life crisis) gift, but when the new retro Mustangs came out in the fall of 2004, I was obsessed with them! But – it had to be a convertible and Ford didn’t release the convertible version until the Spring of 2005 – 41 years after the first Mustang rolled off the production line (not sure if that was intentional, but an interesting fact all the same). So — I got my “gift” a year and a half early.
I went to great effort to find just the right one — it HAD to be a GT and it HAD to be a convertible and it HAD to be red…….and I didn’t really want to go through the hassle (and wait time) of ordering one! So, I checked out Ford dealers on Sundays (never go to a dealership when they are open if you’re just lookin’….) and searched inventories on-line. I found only ONE car that met all my requirements in the state of NC!!! Really??? It was at Capital Ford. So – I went there on a Sunday to check it out and see if it was everything I thought it would be…………and it wasn’t there!!! They had several other colors – most V6 coupes, but not the one I wanted! Was I too late? Did someone else snatch it up already and their internet inventory just wasn’t updated, yet? So, I sent an email to them to inquire about it. A salesman called me on Monday and said they DID still have it, but the big boss had taken it for the weekend — What???? Oh well, OK – so, it will have a few more miles on it than I would like to see for a car that likely was hot off the truck from the factory! I went to talk about it…….I HATE dealing with car salesman!!!! But, I went prepared — I knew exactly what the Mustang cost, exactly what my Grand Am was worth, and exactly what I was willing to pay — and I didn’t let on for a second that I’d do almost anything to get that car!!! I didn’t get the deal I wanted, so I walked away……but I didn’t get out of the parking lot before the salesman came out with an offer that was just slightly more than what I wanted and I took it!!! I drove the pony home that same day — with the top down — all the way from Raleigh to Sanford — on a very cool April day!!! And the rest is history!!!
So, with all that said, why am I suddenly inundated with thoughts about getting a different car? SERIOUSLY??? Maybe it is because I have owned this car longer than any other car I’ve ever owned — she’ll be 6 years old in April and I’ve never owned a car more than 4 years (and usually less)!!! I’m less than 100 miles from turning it over to 50,000 miles, ever had a minute’s trouble with it (well, except for that time the battery died when I was downtown having lunch and missed a 1:00 meeting with my boss, but a tow, a new battery, and an apology later, all was fine), and am still head over heels in love with it! Why am I even considering another car — it is like cheating on your spouse, even if just mentally!!! What is wrong with me???
The thoughts I keep having are about those new modernized station wagons! Yeah – what a leap from a muscle car to a station wagon – isn’t that like a “Mom” car? What do I need with a “Mom” car? But, I just like the looks of them — they aren’t an SUV or even a mini-SUV, but they have some of the qualities of an SUV. My rationale is that I’d have more room for the girls to ride around with me and travel with me, my Mom would be more comfortable riding in it when she visits (and if I ever succeed in getting her to come live with me), and there’s room to haul stuff! But — is all that REALLY worth not having the pony to enjoy?
Then, I start to rationalize having TWO cars — keep the pony (after all, there are no payments associated with it) to use for pleasure AND get a used version of the other to use when I need the other things that one can provide me!!! But, do I really want to get back into having a car payment after all this time without one??? And I’d have to pay for TWO registrations and TWO insurance policies and fill TWO gas tanks and……….!!!! Is it all worth it???
I am really hoping that putting my thoughts down here finally gets them out of my brain and helps me move on…….I am NOT parting with my precious pony, so why keep teasing myself with other options — it is done — end of story!!! Right??? Right!!! OK……let’s get on with the day and stop these crazy thoughts!
Lie To Me – the Fox TV show – is interesting, infuriating, irritating, and intriguing all at the same time! I love the concept and the story lines. Watching how they determine if someone is lying by watching them in both every day situations and under pressure is so interesting. I can’t stop watching it – even though I can not stand the main character!!! Dr. Cal Lightman, played by Tim Roth, is the single most irritating person to watch in the entire world! I have never seen him in any other role (not that I remember, anyway), so I don’t know if he is putting this all on for this one character or if he typically acts this way. He just gives me the heebie jeebies (yes, that is a technical term)! For instance: he walks and stands like he’s about to pass out drunk – all the time – he weaves around and looks like a limp dish rag ready to slump into a pile on the floor. And then there is the revolting facial expressions – when he is watching and talking to someone he curls his upper lip up like a dog that is snarling, furls his brow, and gets a disgusted look on his face that make him look like he is about to throw up. And he always gets right up within an inch of the other person’s face – back off a little, for criminy sake! He can’t sit like a normal adult human being in any chair, he always looks like a bum even in a suit, and he usually holds his head sideways to look at people – like that gives him a better advantage! I just find him so irritating! But……I can’t wait until next week’s episode – right after House – another odd character, but at least House is one I love to hate and doesn’t make my skin crawl!
Speaking of TV — at the beginning of the season, I wrote a post about the shows that I was most excited about – click here to read it. So, what happened to the line up?
My complaint about the networks is that they don’t give shows a chance to gain an audience — one week into the season and they are already talking about which ones they are going to cancel because they didn’t get the ratings out of the gate! There are so many new and returning shows that you can’t watch them all the first week or two. With the DVR, DVD, HULU, etc. available, people typically watch one the night it is aired and catch the others they are interested in later – doesn’t mean they aren’t getting watched and enjoyed! Anyway — I hope Outlaw gets a shot in the arm from being moved to Saturday and hangs around – I like it! If not, I’ll stick with Blue Bloods and The Defenders and a couple returning hits as my must see shows and flip around when they aren’t on to find something else that catches my eye.
Off the TV topic and on to my beautiful Katie!
She hasn’t been feeling too good lately – kinda blah and sluggish! She had an allergic reaction to something and we had to treat her with antibiotics and prednisone for that. Then we found she has some gunk going on in her ears, so we’re doing drops and washes for that. And during all that we found out she has a thyroid problem, so she’ll be on meds for that the rest of her life! She’s on the brink of her senior years – she’ll be 7 in April – so she also has some joint pain, too! Poor old girl – gotta get her straightened up so she can be her sweet, perky, friendly self again – SOON!
And now I’ve said all I have to say for this morning and I’m getting off this computer and getting on with my day….
The current Temple Theatre show is Flaming Idiots – a rowdy comedy full of fun and energy! I decided to invite a friend whose birthday was a couple of days before mine and make it a joint birthday celebration. That turned out to be a great idea, because we both ended up really needing a good laugh……and we got just that — in fact, we got a BUNCH of good laughs! We had a great time!
The show is about two disgruntled postal workers who quit their job to go into the restaurant business — with NO, ZERO, NADA restaurant experience or business sense, whatsoever! When they realize that the business isn’t doing so well, they come up with the hair-brained scheme of staging a murder in the restaurant so that it could become as notorious as a very popular nearby restaurant that became famous because an infamous mobster was murdered there. They end up being even WORSE at staging a murder than they are at running a restaurant!
The cast is extremely talented and have a good chemistry – their relationships, interactions, and timing makes the show! I am always happy to see Michael Brocki in any production – this time he brings his charm to the character of Phil, one of the bumbling restauranteurs. His child-like partner in crime, so to speak, is Stephen N. Moore as Carl. Other characters include Ernesto – the elusive Mexican posing as a Norwegian to hide an ulterior motive, Eugene – the overly dramatic actor working as a waiter until he can be discovered, Jayne (played by Katie Deal – remember her in Dames at Sea?) – the marketing agent / restaurant critic / reporter who can’t seem to keep her skirt from being caught up in her waistband exposing her hind end to the pleasure of the male characters, Officer Task – the policeman who is even more of a buffoon than the restaurant owners (if that is even possible), and Louie – the elderly hitman with what appears to be a touch of dementia Phil and Carl hire to do the murder!
I deliberately left out one character in the list above. The entire cast is great — talented, funny, and brings their own very special element to the show — if any one was missing, the show would have really suffered! BUT – by far, my favorite character was Bernadette – hilariously played by Kristen Elizabeth McCabe! Bernadette is a deaf-mute chef who uses gestures and facial expressions to communicate and does so brilliantly!!!! She absolutely steals every scene she is in!
Flaming Idiots runs until November 7th – Thursdays at 2:00 and 7:00, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00, and Sundays at 2:00. I highly recommend it — you’re in for a treat and a lot of laughs!
Today’s “Ha-Ha” moment comes courtesy of the sweet Miss Amy – one of my three adorable four-legged babies. Amy managed to totally fool me and do it with that irresistible wide-eyed innocent look she seems to always have – regardless of how technically guilty she may be!
The moment happened while we were going through our morning rituals and routine before I had to leave for work. I was running behind schedule and steadily multi-tasking my way through the things that had to be done. The girls had already been out once. When it was time to come in for their breakfast, Megan and Katie were waiting at the door and pranced right in. Amy was nowhere in sight – after calling her name a few times, she finally meandered out of where she was hiding in the bushes where something obviously commanded her undivided attention. Their usual second trip outside lasted longer than usual so I had time to catch up and finish getting ready for work.
When I went to let them in so I could head out to work, Megan and Katie were, again waiting at the door and pranced right on in! Amy, again, was MIA! Figuring that whatever had her attention earlier had piqued her interest again, I went out on the deck to look around the yard. I called her a few times and told her I was leaving — no response and she was nowhere in sight. I turned to go in and put on a pair of shoes to go out in the yard and see what the bushes had that was so captivating. What I saw when I turned around cracked me up!!! There were all three girls – yes, including the “missing” Amy – all inside the screen door sitting side-by-side quietly looking out at me! She obviously snuck in with the other two and I didn’t notice! And she didn’t say a word….not a whimper….not a whine….not a bark….nothing to respond to my efforts of calling her name and let me know she was already inside! I am absolutely convinced they were sitting there laughing at me…….hehehehe
I went in and they all jumped around greeting me — I looked at Amy and said, “you little sneaky devil, you!” She very coyly looked up at me with innocence and sweetness pouring out of her like syrup from a maple tree!
It made my day and gave me something to smile about for hours!
I turned 54 yesterday……REALLY??? When, exactly, did that happen and what, exactly, does that mean, anyway? I certainly hope it doesn’t mean I am supposed to go shop for one of those little old lady rocking chairs and start doing little old lady things (whatever it is that little old ladies do). I also hope it doesn’t mean that I should avoid talking about my age or celebrating birthdays. Cause I really love birthdays — I always have!!! And this one was no exception! Yeah, I’ve lived more than 1/2 a century – so far – and, yeah, my bones and joints can attest to that fact. But, I’m not afraid or ashamed to admit it! Afterall, I don’t {think} I look my age and I don’t {usually} act my age, so it’s only a number, right? So, what’s in a birthday? It is just a day on the calendar that marks how many years you’ve been on this earth. Just a day among many. I think more about what I have done with and in that life span than how many years it took me to do it! The fact that it has flown by so quickly is, I hope, a testament to how jam-packed it was and how much fun it has been – even though it has been dotted with some sadness, disappointment, and difficult situations……it has flown by because it has been mostly a life I can feel proud of and look back on with pure joy, love, and laughter! I’m glad to be here and hope I’m only somewhere just barely past middle age……cause I have a LOT more to do!
So, how did I spend my birthday this year? I went in to work for a short time in the morning. Then, I went to get some groceries and cruised around town a little with the top down on the pony – it was an exquisite day! I played with the girls a lot. Then, I went to see a movie and had dinner at La Dolce Vita with a dear friend – and more cruising around with the top down. Talked to my Mom and family/friends who called to wish me well. And then there was Facebook —- it is funny how receiving a ton of wall posts with birthday wishes can add that special little something to your already special day! In summary, a quiet day doing things I enjoy doing with people (and pups) I enjoy being with…….it was a totally enjoyable day! Not all that different from most weekend days, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
The title indicates I may have some other revelations to share — well, of course I do!
The World Series is about to start and my Yankees won’t be there! Boo Hoo! But, that’s OK! They played a hell of a season and made it to the playoffs! They are still the best team in the league and have made it to and won the World Series more than any other team – EVER! They are still the Yankees! AND – even though they won’t play in the series this year, they are still this year’s second best team in the American League! I know, it isn’t supposed to be good to be second best! But, there were only TWO teams that were good enough to be in the playoffs and there could only be ONE team good enough to go to the series. That’s saying something!!!!
Now, as for the Texas Rangers……whenever the Yankees don’t make it to the series (as rare as that occurence is), I always root for whoever goes from the American League. I just wanna see an AL winner at the end of every baseball season! But, this year is different! I’m actually {secretly} excited about the AL team that made it this year! The Rangers have never made it to the series – they made it to the playoffs before, but never all the way to the big games! If the Yankees had to give up their spot to anyone, I’m glad it is the Rangers. I wish them luck and will root enthusiastically for them to win it all!!! If they keep playing the way they did in the playoffs, the Giants won’t have a chance against them! (oh, by the way…..Dear Rangers: Once you get this exciting win under your belts, don’t think I’ll ever be happy if you try to beat out my Yankees for that spot in the series again!)
Election day is next week………..I can not WAIT until it is over!!! I’ve never liked the “politics” of politics, but in the past few years, I have gotten more and more frustrated and disgusted with it all. If I get one more political call interrupt my peaceful evening or left on my answering machine, I will SCREAM!!! It’d be different if they would tell me what they plan to do for me AND how they plan to do it…….but, all they do is tell me what they think their opponent WON’T do for me or just communicate a vague concept that they think proves to me they have my best interests at heart! I’m not buying it — any of it! I just want to be able to find out which candidate will support the things that I believe are important! And, unfortunately, the “politics” of politics makes that so much more difficult every year!!!
And, I’ll leave you with a quote that I absolutley LOVE — it is a sarcastic view of a pet peeve of mine — voting a straight ticket! Research, think for yourself, and vote for the candidate who best represents what is important to you – not just because they are backed by a particular party!
“I always voted at my party’s call, and I never thought of thinking for myself at all.” William Gilbert
The previews of Matt Damon’s new movie, “Hereafter“, sent me mixed messages. At first, I thought it was a thriller of some kind and my reaction was, “no way”! Then, the more I saw and heard of it, the more I was intrigued by it. You see, I have a curiosity about the after life and angels and whether or not our loved ones continue to surround us with love and guidance after they have gone. So, once it was obvious it was more about that sort of thing and less about something that was intended to shock or scare me, I really wanted to see it……a LOT!!! I hoped for a story that would give me more to think about and perhaps enhance or validate some of my beliefs. Yeah, I knew it would be “just a movie” and that it wouldn’t offer any scientific proof, but, come on — if writers (who hopefully did some research to provide some substance to their fiction) tell stories that align with my beliefs, then I can’t be alone in believing in them! Right? I really hoped this movie would give me some of that — I really wanted to like it and to leave with my head filled with thoughts and questions and wonder!!!!
Unfortunately, that didn’t happen! Oh, the story was good, but it was really quite ordinary……and extremely S…L…O…W! The opening scenes where the French reporter is caught up in a tsunami and experiences death before she is revived and the English boy whose twin is killed are the only scenes that had any life to them at all (pardon the play on words). But, that isn’t what I wanted to experience! The rest of the movie was how they reacted to their experience…..and it was mostly boring!!! Matt Damon’s character goes through the entire movie avoiding his abilities, calling them a curse, and not talking about his experiences other than to say that it was a burden and that he had no desire to put himself through it anymore. Aside from the French reporter having visions of shadowy people all around her while she was unconscious and the English boy having an incident where losing his hat causes him to avoid being on a subway that blows up (you know right off that it must have been the brother who knocked the hat off, but are supposed to be surprised when it is revealed later in a reading), there is no more insight into the hereafter — just how those who briefly experienced it felt about it.
On the other hand, it was a good story and a good ending! If I hadn’t gone in with such a specific idea of what I wanted to get out of it and such a high expectation, maybe I would have liked it……except for the slow, low-keyed way it was told. I don’t know…….thinking back on it, I am really not sure if I let my expectations spoil it for me or if I would have had the same BLAH attitude even without the disappointment. I am torn.
So — I did raise the point value for the basic story that was told — it was good and had the potential to be interesting, if it had been told better. But, the boring nature of the way it was told really weighed heavily on my rating – as did the disappointment I felt about it not delivering what I really wanted to get out of it. I give it a C overall. Save it for Neflix!
So…..what do you think about the new theme? It is an antique-y theme called Quentin – very proper looking! I like the look, but don’t like that it doesn’t support a custom header, so I lost my photo of the girls…..boo hoo!!! But – I like it, so I’ll keep it until I get sick of it and decide to find one that will let me customize the header, again.
When I saw the name of the blog page theme I picked, it made me all nostalgic! Not because Quentin is an old-fashioned name……no, I got all nostalgic because it reminded me of a favorite TV show from my school days. In the late 60s / early 70s, I used to rush home from school every day so that I could see “Dark Shadows“! One of my favorite characters was Quentin Collins, played by David Shelby. It was a poorly filmed series with hokey acting and story lines, but I loved it!!!
I understand they are working on a remake of it for the big screen…….not sure how I feel about that! The charm of it was the dark, bad filming and hokey-ness of it! I hope they don’t ruin it by modernizing it too much. But, I have to say, I am a little excited about the thought of Johnny Depp playing Barnabus Collins……yummy!!! Wonder who they are talking to about Quentin, Angelique, and some of the others………I’ll definitely have to go see it!
Speaking of movies that have peaked my interest — I am definitely intrigued by Matt Damon’s new movie, “Hereafter”, opening this weekend! At first, it looked like a horror/thriller type movie, that I would have no interest in at all. Then, I started seeing more in-depth trailers and it looks more suspenseful and interesting! It opens on my birthday weekend, so may just need to be sure I include it in the celebration festivities!!! {wink}
It has been a lovely, productive Tuesday…….time to settle in for the night and prepare for the inescapable Wednesday!
A friend and I made plans to see a movie on Saturday and we chose “Life As We Know It“. We debated a couple different options, but settled on this one. And we were both glad we did! It made for an enjoyable girl time….and it didn’t hurt to top it off with dinner at The Steele Pig after the matinée!
The movie stars Katherine Heigl as Holly Berensen and Josh Duhamel as Eric Messer (who prefers to be called just “Messer”). Holly and Messer’s best friends set them up on a blind date that does not go well at all – they never make it beyond getting in the car in front of Holly’s house! When the best friends get married to each other, Holly and Messer are thrown into occasion after occasion and situation after situation together – always at their total dismay! Then, the friends are killed in an automobile accident and leave their infant child, Sophie, to Holly and Messer, who are Sophie’s Godparents – together! The will leaves the house, an account to pay the mortgage, the SUV, and, of course, Sophie, to them so that they will have all they need to bring Sophie up in her own surroundings. Comedy ensues as they try to make it work for Sophie’s sake in the midst of still not really liking each other all that much……….until the inevitable happens and they start to warm up to each other.
Like I said, we both really enjoyed this movie — it was fun, lively, touching, heartwarming, and well done. I laughed and cried and left feeling good — my requirements for a successful romantic comedy!
Katherine Heigl — LOVED her in “Grey’s Anatomy” and am very sad that she left the show! In her film career, so far, I’ve like her in all of her characters, but she hasn’t done a good job of picking good movies, with the exception of “27 Dresses” and now this one. She is funny and usually is the best part of the movies she stars in. She has finally picked a winning flick and I hope she keeps it up — she has the potential to bring a lot to the screen, if she can get some roles in films that don’t fall flat.
Josh Duhamel — enough said!!! I cried like a baby when All My Children killed off Leo du Pres – not just because I loved the character, but also because I adored Josh Duhamel!!! He was charming and funny and absolutely perfect in the role of Messer in this film! He stole scene after scene!
Josh Lucas — as if having Josh Duhamel in the film wasn’t delicious enough, they threw in Josh Lucas, too!!!! Be still my heart………
The three rounded out a superb cast that really made the movie! The story was cute and fun. The movie was put together well, didn’t have any boring holes, and didn’t leave me hanging. It was well done and totally enjoyable!
I rate this one a solid A and recommend it for all romantic comedy lovers!
