Well, January will be done in just a few hours. So, let’s round out the month with the last three January Daily Photos! I stuck with it and didn’t miss a single daily photo in the first month of 2016…..only eleven months to go! ๐

“Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow”
OK, so it is technically florescent green, but I couldn’t resist using the old bit of wise advise as the title for this photo! I had spray painted an old trash can the day before the photo was taken and was so fascinated with the pattern of the paint on the snow that I just had to make it my photo of the day!

“Waiting……”
I was bored while waiting for Mom to have a test done…..so, what else would I do but snap a photo!!!???

“Wine Glasses”
Commemorative glasses from the Albion Rotary Club’s Inaugural Wine Tasting Event!

“Sunday Afternoon”
Nothing better than a comfortable couch, a cozy blanket, and a good book, which usually all lead to a nice nap!!!

So, tomorrow we’re on to February! I have really doing a daily photo – they were all either something that caught my eye, my favorite photo out of many taken on any given day, or an idea I had for a staged photo! So far, I haven’t had trouble coming up with something with very little or no thought! But — a friend shared this list that she uses for her Daily Photo Challenge! I thought I might keep it handy in case I run into a day that I just can’t come up with something or if the prompt for a given day sounds intriguing to me! Watch and see how many of my February photos end up being inspired by this list!

Here are my Daily Photos for January 26-27:

“At The Carwash”

“Neighborhood Deer”
And, here’s one more of the deer:

Today’s Daily Photo for January 25th deserves to be posted all by itself…..so that it doesn’t make any other photos jealous by its overwhelming beauty!!! ๐

“Snow Caps on Lake Ontario”
Taken this afternoon at Point Breeze!
So, I was out and about today….getting groceries, popped in to see Mom….you, know! And, on a whim, I decided to take a quick trip to Point Breeze to see how the river and the lake are doing with the weather and see if there were any ducks, birds, whatever available for a photo op! I wasn’t disappointed! It was gorgeous! And, yes, there were birds and ducks galore!!! I wasn’t the only person checking out the beauty – a couple were walking the break wall and two or three cars came by and viewed the river from their cars.
Both the lake and the river are partially frozen and there are snow caps on the lake! This all made for a refreshingly cold swim and play time for the seagulls and ducks and some areas where they could literally walk on water! I also got to see the long-tail ducks, known as oldsquaw that I read about on the Hub last week (click here for that article) – what a treat! They were particularly fun to watch as they swam gracefully for a ways and then in a group effort, they would suddenly splash and scoot along in a running dance across the water! I’m really glad I decided to make the side trip!
Here are some of the photos I took:

And…..on the way there, I spotted these dormant willow trees that seemed to glow in the sun shine:

One of my favorite things to do is watch the birds enjoying the bird buffet I have put out for them in my front yard- especially the blue jays and cardinals – such beautiful birds! I have been a little disappointed that they seem to have forgotten about the buffet since the weather has turned cold….just when I would think they’d appreciate it the most! But, mostly, it has just been squirrels and a few crows emptying the feeders…..until the last couple of days! And, today, many little bitty birds and several of the blue jays were back in full force and I even caught a glimpse of a cardinal! So…..I took advantage of the opportunity to practice with the “Sports Mode” setting on my camera and get some action shots of them through my den window! Here are a few of my favorites:

“Ooppss! I dropped it!”

“Got it! Bye, Bye!”

“I love what you’ve done with the bird bath!”

“Making a clean get away with the goods!”

“Checking out the neighborhood”
So…..looks like the theme for my 2016 Daily Photos for January 23 and 24 is ICE, ICE, BABY!!!

“Butterflies and Icicles”

“Frozen Tears on the Weeping Maple”
This is the result of my practicing with Aperture-Priority Mode on my DSLR!

Couldn’t resist sharing the photo of my lunch at Five Guys!!! YUMMO!!!
Here are the Daily Photos for January 20 thru 22…..these three days all ended up with a “homey” feel to them! ๐

“Boots and Coats”
My brother made me this coat rack and I have filled it, and the boot tray below it, with seasonal apparel

“Typical Morning”
No explanation necessary……

“Treasured Gift”
I had lunch with an dear old friend who was in town for a few days. She surprised me with this wonderful gift – a handmade pillow depicting “Downton Abbey” because of our shared love for the show and a copy of a book by one of my favorite authors!!! She obviously knows me so well! I am picturing myself hugging and crying over this beautiful pillow while watching each of the episodes in this final season of the show I love and will miss so much when it is done……and thinking that she is most likely doing the same many miles away!!! And, it will bring happiness to my heart!
I was out and about in downtown Albion, today…..here are some photos of downtown after this week’s snow:

I may not be a big fan of winter, but it sure does give some great photo opportunities!!!
The Daily Photos for January 18 an 19 were both taken on my back patio and depict the fact that winter has, indeed, made an appearance!

“Picnic, Anyone?”

“Snow on the Roses”
Here are the 2016 Daily Photos taken the week of January 11-17. It wasn’t intentional, but there seems to be a wintery theme going through them!
