July Daily Photos – Chapter Three

I want to start off this post with yesterday’s “You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me” moment! I was sitting at my desk in my den, which looks out at my front lawn and has a perfect view of the Bird Buffet. I enjoy watching the birds….and, yes, even the squirrels…..enjoying the treats I put out for them. Well, yesterday, I looked out and couldn’t believe my eyes! The squirrels like to climb the shepherds hook and hang off the roof of the bird feeder “house” to eat the sunflower seeds – it’s comical to see their acrobatics as they fearlessly hang upside down for their treat. Then, there was yesterday…….one quite clever little bugger figured out how to get the top off the roof of the “house” so he can just sit there and stick his head inside to feast without any death-defying stunts! I could not believe what I was seeing! Now I have seen it all! Mind you, this is not as easy a task as it sounds — the lid can’t just be easily knocked off. When filling the feeder, I have to get my finger nails under the edge and rock it back and forth to get it to come loose – it fits that snugly! I put the lid back on later in the day…….and, then……this morning, he’s back and has removed it, again…..the smart little rascal remembered his accomplishment and did it again! But…..he has a buddy that isn’t as smart……his buddy climbed the shepherds hook and fought the smart one to earn the spot on the roof……but, instead of sticking his head inside the hole in the roof and reaping the benefits of his smart friend to do it the easy way, he did the balancing act to hang over the side to get his seeds from the tray……not too smart, huh???  LOL

So, now……on with my Daily Photos:

July Daily Photos – Chapter One

Happy Fourth of July…….

…….and welcome to the second half of the year! Our state, region, and even our county specifically seem to be recovering from the pandemic…..our numbers state wide are the lowest in the country and our county is seeing more and more days with zero new cases……we’re still seeing some, so it isn’t over, yet, but so much more hopeful than even just a couple of weeks ago. Keeping vigilant with masks and social distancing with hopes that the world gets back to some version of normal soon!

The first seven Daily Photos were fun topics……here they are:

June Daily Photos – Part Four

So…..here we are at the end of the first half of a year that has been so crazy…..it has brought new meaning to the question: “WHAT NOW???”! I’ll start this post off with three memes I found on Facebook that sums it all up……

June Daily Photos – Part Three

Well, summer has officially begun……and, what a HOT start Mother Nature gave us!!! WHEW!!! I finished planting all my annuals in the raised bed……I usually do several pots, too, but chose not to this year! Something different I added, this year, is Four O’Clock seeds……my mother used to love Four O’Clocks – she would carefully collect the seeds at the end of every season and keep them for the next year. I planted some one of the first years after I moved back and they did OK, but I didn’t collect the seeds and couldn’t find them anywhere the next season, so didn’t do it, again. I can’t wait till these seeds start to germinate and watch them grow. It is exciting to go out each evening as see their blossoms open up – they sleep during the heat of the day and wake up about or after Four O’Clock! If they do well, I want to be sure to include them in my annual beds every year from now on. I also put in four tomato plants – last year I tried a veggie garden in the top section of my raised bed……the cucumbers took over and choked out everything else I planted and I ended up with so many cucumber I was sick of them in no time! LOL But, all I really want are tomatoes, so I’ll just do that this year. I got a German Pink Heirloom variety from an Amish greenhouse in town……we’ll see how they do! My grandfather was the Tomato King……he always planted beefsteak tomatoes and they were HUGE and wonderful……maybe he’ll smile down from heaven on mine and help them along! I didn’t inherit his green thumb, but I’ll give it another try!

Here are this week’s Daily Photos – June Week Three as we make our way through the Alphabet:

O is for OUTHOUSE

P is for PEANUT PINCHER

Q is for QUOINS

R is for RUSTY RELIC

S is for SCRUMPTIOUS STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

T is for TREE GROWING THROUGH A TRUCK BED

U is for UNDERPASS

UNDERPASS UP CLOSE:

The next nine days will round out June and the first half of 2020……this Friday is the day our region will move on to Phase 4 of the reopening, if all continues to go as well as it has been for our counties……and as we welcome July, we can only hope that all the bizarre stuff of 2020 will finally be things of the past……maybe 2020 has hope, yet! 🙂

Enjoy Summer!
