WP Monthly WordPrompt – BRIDGE

WOW – another challenge that will spark my creativity! I got an email from WordPress – the platform I utilize for my blog – this morning. They announced a new initiative – the WordPress Monthly WordPrompt! #WordPrompt

Here is what the email said:

Each month, we’ll be bringing you a single word that serves as a prompt for your writing, your art, your coding — whatever it is that makes you, you.

For March, the WordPrompt is: BRIDGE.

“Use that word as a jumping off point to publish a new post, whether you’re a lifestyle blogger or a foodie, a photographer or a poet.

The specific WORD that I get each month will determine if I express it through my writing or my photography or both! This month, the WordPrompt is “BRIDGE”, so I decided to go through my photo archives and select a few of the many, many bridges I’ve photographed over the years. The Erie Canal goes through our county, so I tend to take a lot of photos of the canal bridges. I also really love taking photos of interesting bridges I find when I travel. So…..here goes!!!

First — Local Canal and Lake Bridges:

Geese Under the Main Street Lift Bridge – Albion

Densmore Road Bridge – Black & White – Albion

Allen Bridge Road Bridge – Albion

Horan Road Bridge – Medina

Main Street Lift Bridge – Albion

Waterport Bridge over Lake Alice from a friend’s airplane – Waterport

And, now…..from my travels:

Wooden Pigtail Bridges in Custer State Park in South Dakota

Passing under the Golden Gate Bridge on a cruise ship – San Francisco, CA

Mackinac Bridge – Michigan

River Front in Savannah – Georgia

Fossil Bed on the Ohio River – taken from the Indiana Side looking across the river to Louisville, KY

Bridge across the Ohio River linking Louisville, KY with Clarksville, IN

Bridge over a waterfall in Maui – Hawaii

Rose Hill Lighthouse under the bridge between Newport and Jamestown – Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island

Somewhere in New England — saw this from the highway in a motorhome during our New England Adventure – don’t remember exactly where this was…..think maybe Rhode Island???
But, don’t quote me on that!!! LOL

First bridge built across the Mississippi River – built in 1867-68 – Dubuque, Iowa

That’s enough for now…..maybe I’ll do something else with this month’s WordPrompt before the month is over and we get another WordPrompt. Can’t wait to see what they give us, next……but kinda disappointed it is only a monthly thing…..I’d be up for a weekly prompt!!! But, that’s me…..hehehehe!!!

Lenten Daily Photos – Week One

In addition to my regular Daily Photo Challenge photos, I’ll be participating in the challenge for Lent. Here is Week One of this year’s Lenten Daily Photo Challenge.

First – here’s the list I will be using:

ASHES

SACRIFICE

MEATLESS MEAL

Tuna Wrap with Sweet Potato Fries

PRAYER INTENTION

PURPLE

MY FAVORITE CHARITY

February Daily Photos – Four

That’s it…..say goodbye to February….and, hopefully, to the worst of what Mother Nature had in store for us this winter! Spring is just a short twenty days away….let’s hope Mother Nature has a calendar and knows how to read it! hahaha

So, here is the last set of Daily Photos for February….and the end of the alphabet:

V is for VALENTINE’S CANDY (leftover)

W is for WATER
in my yard after the big melt
Subtitle for Photo: “Island in the Stream”

X is for XTRAORDINARY
(yeah, I know – it’s a stretch – X is a tough one – but, the word absolutely fits the photo)

Y is for YELLOW
and YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME – more snow???

Z is for ZIPPER

LETTERS

FAVE WORD
FAITH
I have a few favorite words – some that have deep meaning for me and some that tend to be ones I use a lot. I chose this one because I’ve been giving the meaning of this word a lot of thought lately AND this wall art depiction of the word in a cross formation is a new addition to my Family Tree wall.

So…..tomorrow we begin March…..and, here is the March Daily Photo List:

And…..as in years past, I will also give the Lent Daily Photo Challenge a try…..we’ll see! 🙂

February Daily Photos – Three

Well, here we are, again……thanks to warmer temps in the 40s and into the 50s and high winds, most of the snow in my yard is gone. Yes, it is replaced by lots of standing water from the big melt, but the snow is gone. The bad news is that we’re expecting more tonight and tomorrow! Let’s hope the predictions of 3-6 inches are far more accurate than the predictions of 6-12 inches. But….what comes will come and whatever happens, we won’t have any control over it, and it will go away eventually like the last dumping did.

So, here is the next set of February Daily Photos:

O is for Olive Oil and Rice Vinegar on my Dinner Salad

P is for Pink

Q is for Queen

R is for Red

S is for Still Snowing

T is for Tall Tree

U is for Uncooked

And…..believe it or not…..the last of the February Daily Photos will be in the next post! See ya then!

February Daily Photos – Two

February continues to mosey on….we’re in for a bit of a warm up and melting over the next couple of days and then a little more snow…..but, spring it getting closer and closer! With so much snow on the ground, the birds have been very active at my feeders. Hoping that the worst that winter has to offer this year is behind us…..but, I do realize it is only mid-February and it is upstate NY!!! Whatever is still in store for us, I can dream of warm, sunny days and grand adventure…..maybe the real ones won’t be too far off!

In the mean time, I’ll keep the Daily Photos coming…..here is the next set from February’s list – the alphabet:

H is for HAPPY HEARTH

I is for ICY RIVER

J is for JESTER

K is for KIM’s KINDLE

L is for LIGHT in the LIGHT SNOW

M is for MUSIC

N is for NAVEL

That’s all for now…….

February Daily Photos – One

OK, so now let’s start February off with the first set of Daily Photos….we’re doing the alphabet this month!

A is for AIR STREAM

Where were the people on these planes going so early in the morning? Wish I was going with them…..of course, only if the destination is somewhere warm and beachy!!!! hehehe

B is for BRIGID

Saint Brigid’s Cross protecting my home from evil and fire!

C is for CHEWING

D is for DEEP

E is for EARS

F is for FEATHERS

G is for GLASSES

That’s all for now……hoping this break in the cold and snow will last a while…..but, it is still only February, so anything can still happen!!!

January Daily Photos – Four

Oh, boy…..I came on here to post February’s first set of Daily Photos and discovered I never posted January’s last set!!! LOL…..guess I’m a bit behind! So, let me catch up with this post and then I’ll come back and do the more current one!

A PLACE

A SHAPE

So….that ends January! Actually, I’m really glad to be putting a solid period (or should I say exclamation point) at the end of January…..it took WAY too long to get through it and I’m glad to be moving on to February!

So, here’s February’s Daily Photo Challenge Topic List — we’re doing the alphabet in February!
