March Fave Daily Photos – Second Half
March is done……and, it definitely went out like a lion!!! What was supposed to be a quick cold spell and a bit of snow turned into a VERY snowy afternoon and evening, today! But, we will be back in the 50’s on Tuesday and it is likely the last we’ll see of snow and winter-like temperatures……at least I hope so…….and pray I didn’t just jinx it!

2019 Maple Syrup Bus Tour
We’re in the middle of Maple Season here in Western NY! And, that means trips to Cartwright’s Maple Tree Inn and bus tours and other maple related treats and fun! So, Saturday, I went on a bus tour hosted by the Cobblestone Society here in town. The tour took 27 of us to Angelica, NY where we spent some time in the quaint little downtown area to shop in the antiques and what-not shops and then to Cartwright’s for all we could eat buckwheat pancakes and fresh real maple syrup!!! YUM!!!
We were also supposed to make a stop at the Alton Sylor Memorial Bridge – aka, the Joncy Bridge. It is the longest clear span timber arch in the United States and, from the photos I’ve seen, it looks really awesome! But, we must have ran out of time cause we weren’t able to do it. But, rest assured — I was disappointed enough and am intrigued enough to make the trip to find it and get photos of it…..so, you’ll see it on here eventually – probably once the weather warms up enough to take a nice drive and when things are green enough to make pretty photos!
So — here are photos from this year’s Maple Syrup Bus Tour:
We started out at 10:00 am at the Cobblestone Museum Complex on Ridge Road in Childs.
Our tour-guide, Georgia! She was a walking encyclopedia about maple products and processing!
Angelica – a quiet little town caught in time! We spent about an hour here shopping and browsing in the antiques stores and the sweet shop – where we picked up pre-ordered pies, salt-rising bread, and other treats! I bought myself an egg custard pie — I LOVE egg custard pie and haven’t had it in years! My grandmother used to make it all the time for me! I also got a small apple caramel crunch pie to stick in the freezer for a time after I work off the egg custard and buckwheat pancakes – LOL!
These guys loved watching all the people strolling around their town! 🙂

And, then, on to Cartwright’s Maple Tree Inn and all those scrumptious buckwheat pancakes and fresh real maple syrup!
Didn’t know till I got there that my friends Lori and Michelle were on the tour, too!

And, the lady in the green on the other side of me is my neighbor, Doris, who I also didn’t know was going on the trip, too!
I take a photo of this guy every year…….and one like the one above of all the pancakes on the grill!
Can’t say I’m not consistent!!! LOL
So – that about sums up our fun and delicious day trip to Angelica!!!
March Fave Daily Shots – Part One
The calendar tells us Spring will begin in two days! Sure hope Mother Nature has a calendar and refers to it! LOL Seriously, there are signs that Spring is, in deed, here and ready to start bringing all the joys that Spring so aptly brings to our lives…….the geese are returning – they have been squawking overhead a lot in the past few days…….my daffodils are popping up out of the ground…….forecasted temperatures are beginning to be predominantly in the more pleasant range……we’ve moved on to Daylight Savings Time and the days are getting longer! Yes, regardless of the light snow we saw swirling through the air yesterday and the few days still stuck in the 30’s, Spring IS upon us and I couldn’t be happier!!!
With Spring comes the start of Adventure Season! YAY!!! I have a Maple Syrup Tour booked through our Cobblestone Museum Society the end of the month and am counting down the days till my first big adventure – my 2019 cruise – in April and some friends and I are starting discussions about our annual trip to Washington, DC that we’re planning in the Fall, this year! And, that’s just the beginning! I am so looking forward to this year’s Adventure Season! So many ideas fighting in my head for the chance to be a reality…..what, oh what, will this year bring!!!??? Stay tuned for the photo results as the year progresses!

One more thing, before I log off here and begin my Monday……I went to a paint night at Brushstrokes in Medina last week – we painted Gnomes and had some wine and chocolate pairings…..here are the results of my efforts:
The photo distorted the color of the jacket and dots on the hat rim — it is actually chocolate brown!

Morning Visitor
This is why I don’t get much done around here in the mornings……I get up about 7:00 am…….take care of Megan – breakfast and let her out to take care of business and make sure the yard is the way she left it when she went to bed the night before…….and then I get on here, where I sit and look out at the bird feeders right outside the window, and get all wrapped up in the entertainment of the day – either by the birds or the squirrels!!!
And, so it goes…….
Ice, Ice, Baby – Feb 2019
The weather in Western NY has been……well……typical! hahaha We were socked in with a wicked snow storm and wind chills in the negative double digits, then enjoyed a few days of spring-like weather in the 50-60’s, and then found ourselves coated with a thick layer of ice…..all within about a week!!! That’s WNY for ya!!!
Here are some photos of the ice storm of yesterday and today……all taken from inside where it is nice and warm with a zoom lens……I’m not crazy enough to risk slip sliding around outside for a few photos! hehehe
Full disclosure – I didn’t take this one – a friend who stopped by took it cause she thought it looked cool and sent it to me!

And……the funniest part……it didn’t get out of the 30s all day, today, but will warm up into the 40s starting about 8:00 this evening and increase into the 50s by midnight and stay in the upper 40s through the night before dropping back into the 30s and then 20s by morning and through the day tomorrow! Yep……it’s been interesting!

Yeah, yeah……I know……I’ve been absent on here this month!!! January is a tough month — the let down from the holidays — winter really digs in her heals — it seems like the longest month in history!!!
