SOMETHING WEIRD
This little guy came and sat on my window sill and watched me for the longest time! I thought he was pretty adorable and a bit funny looking with his “grandpa eye brows”, but have since learned he is likely a baby robin, so not so weird, after all…..but definitely still adorable!!!

More next time…….
Loving the weather we’re having…..a few days a bit too hot for me, but I’m not complaining……mostly it has been amazing!!! NY is now at 70% vaccination rate, so most all the restrictions have been lifted and I’m looking forward to a trip I’m planning in the fall and thinking about other places I want to start considering seriously! Yeah – life is good!

That’s all for May……But, that’s not all for Daily Photos – here is the June Daily Photo Topic List:
I came to my blog for information about a specific memorial monument I photographed in 2016 – I had the photos, but couldn’t remember the actual name of the memorial. I felt was a perfect representation of today’s holiday – Memorial Day – and wanted to post it to my Facebook page. Well, I found the post and saw that it mentioned that I planned to do a separate post about the entire veterans memorial park because it was so impressive……but, I discovered I never followed through with that…..so, what better day to do it than today!!!??? So, here it is…..better late than never!
In 2016 during the Most Excellent Adventure cross country motor home trip I took with my brother, sister-in-law, and her sister, we stopped at the High Ground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville, Wisconsin, near my sister-in-law’s home town. It is one of the most impressive Veterans Memorial Parks I have ever visited. Here are some of the photos I should have posted back in 2016!
First – the memorial that prompted me to look back at this park today:
This memorial says pretty much everything there is to say about this holiday – It is called “Fountain of Tears” – the top portion is a soldier who gave his life for his country……and the water trickling down to the woman and child represents the tears of the loved ones he left behind to grieve for him. So……while you enjoy your cookouts and visits to the beach, please be sure to remember the reason behind this holiday…..remember those brave men and women who gave their lives for your right to take the day off work and eat hotdogs and play in the lakes.
We will remember them!
And, now for the rest of the park:

Lest we forget…….
My friend Ron flew his plane up from NC for a visit this week. So, you know I had to find a day that worked for us to take a little ride around the area. That day was this morning – early! We decided to fly to Letchworth and see if we could get some good photos. They didn’t come out as good as I had hoped — several factors made the angles bad for nice shots of the three waterfalls – I got them all – sorta – but not very well. But, it was a fabulous morning and we had a great time…….the views were amazing, even if I wasn’t able to capture them on camera as awesome as they looked in person!
I have to admit, though……given the way the river snakes through the gorge and the wooded areas around it, I really think Letchworth is best enjoyed on the ground and not from the air – you can really see the enormity of it and the splendor and hear the river and the waterfalls and really appreciate it so much more down on the ground! That said, it was still pretty cool and we were so glad we did this flight this morning!
We also flew around the wind farms near there, saw Silver Lake, and got some shots of Darien Lake. So, here is what I go – reminder – the colors in the photos will depend greatly on the sun, glare, and other factors when photographing through the door window of the plane…..also, some are zoomed in and some are true distance – we didn’t really get as close/low as some photos imply:
Our shadow in the farmer’s field as we took off from Frenchy’s runway…..
The Erie Canal along Eagle Harbor-Albion Road at the gates with the prison in the background
Albion Tops…..not many shoppers at that hour of the morning! hehehe
The beautiful rich and fertile black muck land between Barre and Elba
And the gorgeous farm land that is so prominent in our area – Thank the Good Lord for Farmers!
Approaching Letchworth at Mount Morris
The Dam
Lower Falls……this was the only one of the three that I could actually get a shot of, but not a very good one! boo hoo…….however…….I’ve been to Letchworth several times since I moved back home and haven’t been able to find the lower falls – not sure why, but I just haven’t……NOW I can say I’ve seen the lower falls! hahaha
You may just have to take my word for it, but that is the Middle Falls and the Glen Iris Inn – honest!!!
The new railroad trestle and the Upper Falls just a little to the right of it in the photo
The Upper Falls……or the top edge of them!
Silver Lake – I went to two week summer camp there through our church when I was a little girl
The next several photos are of the wind farms near Letchworth – I love seeing the wind farms!
Six Flags – Darien Lake Theme Park…….looks kinda tiny from the air, huh?
And, this is the Alabama Swamp……
That’s it…..we flew back to land at Frenchy’s and the adventure was over! Hope you enjoyed going along with us!
Today, I went to the Linwood Gardens Tree Peony Festival near Pavilion, NY. This is the third time I’ve been there – I previously went in 2016 and 2017. They didn’t open to the public last year because of Covid. I took a friend, this time – it was her first visit. The weather was perfect – warm, but a nice breeze, so it was quite pleasant. Here are a few of the photos I took of the gorgeous gardens and peonies!
AND……..the next photo of a gorgeous Tree Peony was NOT seen at Linwood Gardens……nope……this one was photographed in MY very own back yard this morning BEFORE we went to the festival!!!

I think we can finally have a reasonable expectation of continued warm weather and sunshine! The past few days and the foreseeable forecast have been amazing! My gardens are coming to life brilliantly and my hummingbird friends are back in full force! I’m a happy camper!
