June Daily Photos – Part Three

Well, summer has officially begun……and, what a HOT start Mother Nature gave us!!! WHEW!!! I finished planting all my annuals in the raised bed……I usually do several pots, too, but chose not to this year! Something different I added, this year, is Four O’Clock seeds……my mother used to love Four O’Clocks – she would carefully collect the seeds at the end of every season and keep them for the next year. I planted some one of the first years after I moved back and they did OK, but I didn’t collect the seeds and couldn’t find them anywhere the next season, so didn’t do it, again. I can’t wait till these seeds start to germinate and watch them grow. It is exciting to go out each evening as see their blossoms open up – they sleep during the heat of the day and wake up about or after Four O’Clock! If they do well, I want to be sure to include them in my annual beds every year from now on. I also put in four tomato plants – last year I tried a veggie garden in the top section of my raised bed……the cucumbers took over and choked out everything else I planted and I ended up with so many cucumber I was sick of them in no time! LOL But, all I really want are tomatoes, so I’ll just do that this year. I got a German Pink Heirloom variety from an Amish greenhouse in town……we’ll see how they do! My grandfather was the Tomato King……he always planted beefsteak tomatoes and they were HUGE and wonderful……maybe he’ll smile down from heaven on mine and help them along! I didn’t inherit his green thumb, but I’ll give it another try!

The next nine days will round out June and the first half of 2020……this Friday is the day our region will move on to Phase 4 of the reopening, if all continues to go as well as it has been for our counties……and as we welcome July, we can only hope that all the bizarre stuff of 2020 will finally be things of the past……maybe 2020 has hope, yet! 🙂

Enjoy Summer!
