Just a few thoughts I feel worthy of jotting down!
I met a friend at Elizabeth’s for some pizza for supper tonight. While I waited for him to arrive, I sat in the parking lot overlooking the pond at Riverbirch Shopping Center. It was a lovely evening and I enjoyed watching the fountain and the ducks and geese swimming in the pond and walking around the banks. It was so pleasant and relaxing! Listening to the water splashing from the fountain and the ducks and geese squawking almost put me to sleep. I’ll have to remember to take some bread with me and go sit on the picnic benches to feed them when I need a little peace and quiet or just want to enjoy a lovely evening sometime.
It reminded me of when I was a little girl – my Mom would take my brother and me to a farm in a near by town. The farm had a very large pond that was the home for several swans and geese. The owners made it public and people would come from all over to sit around the banks and toss pieces of bread to the swans and geese. The swans were so beautiful and graceful and very entertaining! Of course, swans and geese can be nasty, too — quite often we would run screaming as we were chased by a swan or goose that wanted to nip at us! That was just one of many ways to spend an entertaining day that was full of fun, but didn’t cost my Mom a penny – other than the gas and a picnic lunch.
The pizza and company for supper was very enjoyable, but the memories as I sat waiting for my friend was definitely the icing on the cake!!!
Elizabeth’s Pizza is pretty darn good. I like their pizza, stromboli, and calzone. I was very delighted to find them when we moved here.
