June 18th – “I Love This Time of Day….”
The actual “time” depends on the day…..pretty much whatever time I can just put my feet up and read without interruption or struggling to focus on the words!!! 🙂
We’re in the midst of a heat wave!!! So, sitting outside to read was a bit uncomfortable….so much nicer inside where it is cooler was heavenly!!!
The book I’m reading is for our church’s Summer Book Club. It is book # 2 in the “Sensible Shoes” series by Sharon Garlough Brown. Book # 1 was “Sensible Shoes” and this one is “Two Steps Forward”. There are four books in the series. The series is about a group of four women from different walks of life who meet at a spiritual retreat and become friends. The stories chronical their spiritual journeys…..very good!!!
Here are the four books in the series – in order – I recommend them:

June 15th: “On Weekends I…..”
There’s always work to be done…..but, I get especially sad when it’s time to deadhead my peonies!!! They are so gorgeous – my favorites – but they only last a week or so! Once the first heavy rain hits and weighs down the branches loaded with huge blossoms, it is only a matter of time before they turn into an eye sore!!! I have garden tape that keeps them up off the ground, but they still don’t survive after they get drenched and weighed down! So sad!!!
June 14th: “I Love This View…”
I had decided it was a lovely day to have lunch at the lake….so, I went to Boone & Crockett’s at Point Breeze and planned to sit out on their deck overlooking the Oak Orchard River and Lake Ontario off beyond the lighthouse! But…..right after I took this photo and sat down, I realized the breeze was a tad too chilly under the canopy to eat outside (it’s always 5-10 degrees cooler at the lake and there was a steady breeze flowing through the covered deck)….so I went inside for a delicious steak sub and homemade chips!!!
I’ll sat out in the sun a bit later when I got home to read and enjoy the day!
June 13th: “I Know….”
Four of my friends and I attended a trivia event put on by the Orleans County Office of the Aging at the Hoag Library, today…..our team didn’t win, but we held our own and had fun!!!
Yes – I knew this one….and I was the first to raise my paddle…..but, as soon as she called on me, it popped out of my head!!! UGH!!! I had ten seconds to remember it…..it was right on the tip of my tongue….I could see Audrey Hepburn in that beautiful white dress, hat , and parasol she wore during the horse race scene…..the seconds ticked away…..and I finally, yelled out “My Fair Lady”!!! LOL I got our team the point!!! We ended up with 12 points – trailing the 3rd place team that had 16 points! Oh well – it was a lot of fun, anyway!
It was a fun day….we really enjoyed the trivia event (although none of us are really old enough to attend anything put on by the Office of the Aging…..hehehe….at least not in our dreams! LOL) and went to Circle R on Rt 18 for ice cream after because one of us was celebrating a birthday!
June 11th: “I Work Here….”
From my archives because after a long, restless, painful night, a morning in the ER, and a lot of time on the couch when I got home, the only “work” I did was to “nurse” a kidney stone!
CT showed it was right at the bladder, so Doc said it could pass quickly……right now, it appears he may have been right OR it has moved to a more comfortable spot!!!
