Just a few thoughts I feel worthy of jotting down!
Yeah….I do love lobster!
A week or so ago, I saw that the Cousins Maine Lobster Food Truck was in a nearby town! Oh, yeah!!! first, let me tell you that I saw these guys – two cousins from California – on Shark Tank a few years ago trying to get their Maine lobster food truck business going – I’ll post a video about it at the end of this post. They got a deal with Barbara Corcoran! After starting out with one truck in California in an effort to bring Maine Lobster to the west coast, they are now all over the country with trucks! But, I’ve never actually seen one…..till now!
I planned to go, but neglected to put it on my calendar! Ooopppsss! The day came and I DID remember…..five minutes after I finished eating lunch! UGH!!!
Then, I saw another event with them pop up on Facebook saying they were going to be in another nearby town – roughly the same distance, different direction! This time I not only put it on my calendar, I hit “interested” on the FB event so it would also remind me, AND I invited a friend!
And…..success! We remembered and we went! We got there a little after they opened and there was already a long line…..should have ordered ahead on their app – I’ll remember that next time! The wait was worth it! I ordered two lobster rolls — the Connecticut version (warm with butter) and the Maine version (cool with mayo). I’ve always been more fond of the warm lobster rolls….there’s just something about mayo on cold lobster that doesn’t seem right to me…..it’s OK and if that’s the only way I can get it, I do, but prefer the warm ones, but figured I’d give their cool version a try for future reference! My friend did the same.
I ate the warm one there…..so good! Stuffed with huge chunks of lobster on a toasted roll drizzled with butter! Heaven!!! And, I kept the cool one for dinner! Later that evening, I got it out of the fridge and took the first bite – I realized they don’t mix the lobster in mayo, as I’ve experienced in the past – they smear the mayo on the bread! While the first bite was quite good, I took advantage of the opportunity to remove the lobster, scrape the mayo off the bread, and put the lobster back! Yep – better! Although, I didn’t mind it with the mayo on the bread!
Here are a few photos I took while standing in line and after we got our rolls:
And….here are a few photos of lobsters I have loved from my past:
