Weekend Words

I think we need to lobby Congress to get them to write a bill and get it passed to enact the standard of three day weekends – let’s start a campaign to make EVERY Monday part of the weekend!  But, since the likelihood of our success is fairly slim, I’ll take all the long weekends I can get! 

I was pretty lazy this weekend.  I went to the movies in Cary (scroll down to the next post to read all about the two movies I saw), popped in at PetSmart to pick up some things for the girls, and did very little else…

Apparently, Sanford may be in for some snow tonight and tomorrow – a couple inches predicted with 4-6 possible!  This news will make a lot of people around here happy – those who look forward to the one or two snow falls we get here a year. 

I have a pet peeve that really got to me this week – so, let me pull out that soap box and step up on it…..OK, here goes:

• The source of my irritation involves those sanitary paper liners for public restrooms.  The intended use of these is a good thing and many people use them to help maintain some level of sanitation in public restrooms.  What bothers me are the people who use them and then just get up and leave the stall without disposing of the liner – they just leave it on the seat for the next person to deal with.  Come on — are they THAT paranoid of germs that they can’t carefully touch the outer edges of a paper liner that they didn’t mind touching when they put it in place and just push it into the toilet?  It’s not like they have to crumple it up in their hands to toss it in a trash receptacle.  They use the same hands to use toilet paper before they get up – if you get my drift (at least I would hope they do).   They are even going to go right out and wash their hands (again, at least I would hope they do).  AND – it was THEIR butt that was on the liner!!   DUH!!!  It is totally selfish and disrespectful to leave it for the next person or someone responsible for cleaning the restroom to take care of — we certainly don’t want to touch something they had their butt on!!!

This past week also brought news of the airplane that landed in the Hudson River.  Due to situations and people all being perfectly aligned, there were no casualties!!!!  One thing that all those people surely came to realize is also something we should all take to heart — Don’t wait for a potentially life altering event to appreciate the good things in your life!  With all the economic woes in the world right now, it is a much needed wake up call for everyone — things could be worse and there is always something or someone in your life to be thankful for.  And, if you give it the thought it deserves, you just may find that you have a LOT to be thankful for!

So — as for today – the last day of my nice three day weekend – I am still thinking about what I want to do!  A visit to the grocery store is likely in order – I am out of several things that I need to pick up.  I’ll just let the rest unfold as I go……
